God is doing great things at East Gaffney. We are a church that loves mission work and believes in the true meaning of God's Word. Here at EGBC we believe that every life has value, no matter the age, experience, background, or current circumstance, and we are committed to equipping each person with the tools we need to fulfill God's wonderful plan for our lives. Simply put...YOU MATTER HERE!

Our mission is our passion, and our passion is to know Him and make Him known. We seek to train our people to grow in their walk with Jesus and engage our world with the hope of the Gospel.

East Gaffney Baptist Church is located in the East Gaffney community of Gaffney, SC. This is our Jerusalem and we strive to make Jesus known to all living around our church as well as working to spread the Gospel throughout the world.

Director of Children's Ministries

Tracy Taylor

Tracy is married to Sammy Taylor and they have three children, Trey and his wife Megan, Mallory and Seth, along with the family dog, Cash.  In Tracy’s professional career, she works as a physical therapist, where she strives to help people meet their goals of physical rehabilitation. She now adds to her many titles the role of grandmother, as the family recently welcomed into the world their sweet Sawyer Rae. Of all her roles in life, Tracy considers the greatest to be being a born-again Christian, who through the use of her spiritual gifts, serves the children of EGBC as Director of Children’s Ministries. She is honored and grateful to work alongside the EGBC staff, as well as the parents of EGBC Kidz who help to share God’s love, teaching the children to become “arrows” for Christ. Her passion is that all the children of EGBC would grow in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man, just like Jesus did! (Luke 2:52)

Director of Student Ministries

Karen Burgess

Karen has been a member of East Gaffney since 1996. She is married to Jon Burgess (an ordained deacon of the church) and has been blessed with 2 children and 2 wonderful grandchildren. As she grew deeper in her relationship with God, she discovered that her spiritual gift was to work with students. Karen has served in this area since 2001 and considers it a blessing to be EGBC Director of Student Ministries since 2014. Her passion is to reach middle school and high school students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching them to live in a way that honors God. Her goal in ministry is to teach others who God is, helping them to build a strong relationship with Him, equipping them to share the love of God with others, through the Gospel. Karen is passionate about missions and strives to teach students the importance of being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Director of Music

Janice Barnhill

Janice was called to East Gaffney  in 2001 to serve in the music ministry. She is married to Howard Barnhill, and they have one son, Josh; his wife, Stephanie; and one grandson, Eli who is eleven. Janice enjoys camping and traveling with family and friends, playing the piano,

and encouraging others to use their musical abilities to serve and worship God. She believes music should be Christ-centered, biblically sound, and bring glory to God. Psalm 96 : ”Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”

The Lord blessed LaRue with a wonderful husband, two children, two special in-laws, and six grandchildren. She considers it her honor to have served the Lord at EGBC for many years in the music ministry.
