East Gaffney Baptist Church is located in the East Gaffney community of Gaffney, SC. This is our Jerusalem and we strive to make Jesus known to all living around our church as well as working to spread the Gospel throughout the world.

OUR PASTOR
Pastor Joshua Davison
Pastor Josh brings a passion for people and a diversity of ministry experience to EGBC. He began his ministry serving the homeless on and around the campus of the University of Georgia, and being the Head of Religious Activities for the Jackson County Correctional Institution and Jefferson, GA Sheriff's Department. Later he served as a Youth Pastor, until receiving his call to be Lead Pastor. He holds undergraduate degrees in Biblical Studies and Pastoral Theology, as well as Master of Ministry and Doctor of Ministry graduate degrees. His wife, Elizabeth, is a Special Education Teacher, and together they have three boys, Joshua Liam, Creighton Brooks, and Josiah David.
Director of Children's Ministries
Amy Knight
Amy is married to Derick Knight and together they have five children. As Amy grew deeper with her relationship with Christ, she knew that helping children was something she needed to be a part of. Amy has helped with the children's program at EGBC for four years and is happy to serve as the Director of Children Ministries. Amy's goal is to help children see God's love and His will in their lives.

Amanda Lemmonds

Amanda was called to East Gaffney in January of 2022.
Along with her husband Dewitt, she has a passion for discipleship and helping people to understand the gospel. Their goal is to help the church partner with families in order to equip them make disciples in their home by teaching systematic theology. She also teaches 3rd grade ELA and social studies.
Together with Dewitt, they have 4 fun and outgoing children. In her spare time, Amanda loves watching movies with her family and trying new recipes.

Barbara Peterson
Barbara is married to Walt Peterson and they have three girls, Donna, Susie, Heather and sons-in-law, Jerry, Ritchie, and Jamey. They are blessed to be Mimi and Pop to seven grandchildren and two great grands.
In her professional career she works for the City of Gaffney as Administrative Assistant to the Police Chief. Barbara’s love for music was realized at the early age of five when she wanted to begin piano lessons, and has played for several local churches since the age of sixteen. She has been a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church since 1974 and has been the church pianist for 45 years, also playing handbells and singing in the Adult Choir. Barbara is passionate about sharing the gospel through her music as she believes this is her spiritual gift. She is grateful that God has blessed her with a talent and good health to be able to serve in the ministry for all these years.
Church Organist
LaRue Douglas

LaRue was blessed to be saved by Jesus at an early age. She played piano at her father's church when she was a teenager, as she discovered she had a passion for music. The Lord blessed LaRue with a wonderful husband, two children, two special in-laws, and six grandchildren. She considers it her honor to have served the Lord at EGBC for many years in the music ministry.

LaRue gives thanks to God for a husband who never gave up on her, as she pursued her BA degree in Music Education.

Church Secretary
Joy Hurin
​
Joy has a compassionate heart and enjoys helping other people. She loves to cook and bake (which makes her husband very happy!). She also enjoys reading.
​
Joy originally retired from AT&T, followed by a nine year career as a Flight Attendant. She likes to stay busy, and does so by serving as our Church Secretary. Joy says that she loves working at EGBC, because "everyone is so nice."
